Monday – After some trouble with his plane’s engine, which leaked fuel mid-flight, Tony spent some precious time flying on Monday. The weather was fantastic—sunny but autumnally crisp.

Tuesday – Tony had his first airborne emergency. At considerable height, his plane’s propeller stopped, leaving him gliding perilously through the crisp thin air thousands of feet above the ground. Fortunately, Tony managed to perform an allegedly perfect runway landing in his stricken plane, before taking to the sky once more—less than an hour after he was left powerless and thus extremely vulnerable at a height that would terrify most sane people.

Tony’s untidy studio, a true example of the lax organisation skills often demonstrated by creative people, has been cleaned—transformed, even—by hyper-organised Yvonne, who has miraculously exposed vast spaces in Tony’s studio that were previously buried in a grave of paint, esoteric art materials and numerous unfinished paintings. Lucy, a recent hire, adopted the monstrous task of organising Tony’s hellishly cluttered laptop, and left it clean and clutter-free.

Wednesday – Due to the uncharacteristically fantastic weather we have had this week, Tony flew once more—without incident, fortunately. In his plane he flew from Middleham to Kelso, from Kelso to Charter Hall, from Charter Hall to Duns, and so on before returning to solid ground and the Gallery, where he signed several of his limited edition paintings, which are due to be mailed to Yorkshire and hung in several galleries there.

Thursday – Tony was back at the gym for the first time this week—and was immediately reminded by various painful spasms that he hasn’t been in attendance as much as he should have been. After an excruciating workout, he returned to the Gallery to work on numerous exciting administrative tasks.

This week was busier, and more exciting, than usual–despite the slump that happens at this time of year, when Scotland is lashed by rain and cold wind that brings to mind winter.
