The weather is inspiring some winter and spring paintings at the moment, remembering our past and looking forward to a brighter future.
Sadness.
In life (pre covid) if Captain Tom had passed you in the street struggling to get along on his Zimmer, most of us would have said hi, exchanged pleasantries and then gone about our business. Then during lockdown a fall and then a walk for the NHS brought Tom fame and a No1 record, a knighthood and a book. He lived to be 100 years old and his walk for the NHS raised an amazing 34 million plus. Tom left us his legacy, I believe helping us focus and supporting our wonderful NHS.
When Yvonne finished her cancer treatment I happily painted a lovely big boat painting for the radiotherapy department at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Subsequently I have met or been contacted by many people. All have told me they were inspired by the painting and the message accompanying it.
So this weeks message is when you are able to help others please do. It makes for a much better place for us all and in Sir Tom’s own words ‘Tomorrow will be a good day for us all’
Stay safe everybody. T
