In 2006 – 7 Tony, was approached to help start a professional art organisation geographically covering both sides of the Scottish Border. The aim of the Organisation, was to help and support artists in their work and bring together under one hub funding and support. A first in the UK we believed in bringing together artists in as diverse disciplines as those who paint, draw, sculpt, work in glass, wood, pottery, ceramics and textiles from NE England and Southern Scotland.
Tony helped the organisation grow and was finally elected chairman of the organisation from Jan 2008 to 2009. And after overseeing the delivery of an increasing membership and fantastically managed Art Trail along the Borders in September of 2009, the organisation boasted more than 150 members. With the purchase of 22 bridge St to refurbish into the existing Art House gallery space Tony stepped down as Chairman to concentrate on a very hands on project management.
Tony remained a member and both he and the Gallery will continue to support the organisation and its aims going forward.
The Crossing Borders organisation continues to flourishing and assists in putting art trails and events on right across the Scottish Borders for the arts organisation to cover the borders area.
