Hello and welcome back to this week’s blog.
I received a lovely e-mail during the week, from Colin, who said by reading the blog regularly made him feel like he was in the gallery with us. Until he can get back in to see us next time of course. The e-mail reminds me of how brilliant you all are as art collectors and friends of the gallery and myself and Yvonne.
Monday saw us in Edinburgh delivering and hanging a picture for a lovely couple in their nineties, just shows that you are never to old to enjoy a wonderful piece of art. We then paid a visit to Saltire Motorcycles on Gorgie Rd. Saltire are a great destination for all things motorcycle including training, bikes to buy, bike gear, a biker cafe, tattoo parlour and a barbers shop! Fabulous Place. This was the highlight of my day.
Tuesday took us down to Boulmer in Northumberland. I grew up in Boulmer and we still have a house there. It was lovely to stroll along the beach. We also paid a visit to the Alnwick Gallery and caught up with the owner, Clair. Clair and her husband, Jason have been friends for many years.
Wednesday was very busy, Yvonne and Angela were getting ready for the ‘Lynn Rodgie and Sons’ exhibition. I seemed to be in never ending meetings, but according to Yvonne, that’s because I speak too much !!!
Thursday – Oran and I spent a bit of time working on a potential fun project for the gallery ( more to follow on that). Yvonne and Angela were putting the finishing touches to the Gallery and I even managed to get a bit of painting done.
Friday started early in a meeting with our Architect. We already have planning for the glass
extension at the back of the building and we were just going over the final details for Building Control. After a quick breakfast I made a visit to the new Turkish barber in the town – this was a first for me, and for once I managed to stay silent as the cut throat approached. The remained of the day was spent painting and poor Yvonne was in the cellar most of the day doing a big clearout.
Saturday – A busy day in the gallery with Angela, Oran and Yvonne, meeting & greeting and having a great time interacting with our visitors. Very humbling to know so many amazing art collectors and friends who have allowed me to grow as an artist and establish a great place to view art.
On a real sad note, our Saturday girl, Katie has had to leave the gallery to focus on getting well. We wish her well on the recovery and the future. Katie has been amazing as our Saturday girl. Come back and see us soon you, we all miss you.
