Hello and welcome back to this weeks Blog.
The new Abbey Row entrance to the Gallery is nearly complete!
It’s been manic around the gallery with plumbers, electricians, builders, joiners, (amazing Kenny) plasterers, roofers and of course painters. But we’re very close to what we originally set out to create THH GALLERY as a Home of Art.
You will be able to enjoy a coffee and a catch up in a warm, friendly, artistic setting which is second to none, relaxing and interacting with amazing artists and artworks. I am moving my own studio down stairs so I can interact with as many of you visiting as possible.
And we will have painting demonstrations from visiting artists and makers.
Putting something back is our ethos and as always acts to keep my own and the galleries feet firmly on the ground.
It is over a dozen years since we opened our doors and showcased all that is good in art. We have supported young people and more mature students. The Apprentice is currently on the TV, we thought instead of being fired we would prefer ‘your hired’. There will be 2 to eventually 4 vacancies at the gallery for studio space for young and up and coming artists in my main studio to assist in their career developments. We will also be working closely with Scottish Borders College, by creating a media centre here in the gallery for students. They can gain valuable work experience in Art, social media and film making. In a relaxed but realistic work environment. It’s always hard getting on the work ladder. Real projects which will be invaluable to the students growth and help us maintain the gallery as one of the finest around.
The first weekend in December sees the launch of our Christmas Exhibition. It will feature work and personnel appearances by Graham Short, Kerr, Lynn and Cammy Rodgie, Keith Proctor, Peter Knox, Anthony Hall, THH, Jimmy Moffat, many of our makers and …… ( you will just have to join us to find out). During December we will be open on the first 3 Sundays.
During a trip to Edinburgh earlier this week we had a short stop at Rosslyn Chapel, wow, what a place. This picture shows me with mam and our nephew, Michael, who is turning into a great Gallery Manager.
