Monday
What a great start to the week. Tony managed to fly on Sunday for a few hours with his friend David Harper. It was lovely to soar above the beautiful Borders, flying for the first time with my pal. Yvonne is bouncing back from both the chemo and being in hospital. She’s slowly regaining her legendary appetite. Very much bouncing back, Tony is glad to report, with an ever-present smile. What a lady.
Tuesday
First thing: At the plane for a little bit of work on the power front. Setting up the “aware system” so Tony can keep out of no-fly zones. After this work Tony returned to the gallery for a bit of studio time. New pieces of work coming along nicely. Flight and painting: a double bonus.
Wednesday
A great day spent in the gallery. Yvonne kept front of house (she’s a hero) with Oran, which allowed Tony to catch up with pre-arranged meetings about artwork for his upcoming exhibition, and of course paint. Work on a new commission, Just the Three of Us, for a lovely couple is really coming along well.
Thursday
It’s been a week since the attack on fusilier Lee Rigby. Tony is glad to say that it failed, and that the country is settling back down again. Let’s hope the perpetrator receive the full brunt of the law, and we reason with, not kill, each other in the future. Wouldn’t the world be a better place for talking, and not dropping bombs on each other?
Life is very much sacred for Tony. Like he said last week, we we can disagree with each other about the colour of a pair of socks, the state of our roads, the overwhelmed health service, even people’s politics or religion. But life should never descend to violence on this level.
Friday
Yvonne at home on Friday. Not easy leaving her there, Tony says, but at least he checks in every few hours. At other times, Tony was in his studio painting away. It’s great, he says, to be able just to paint, paint, paint. Painting is very relaxing, particularly given that his new artwork is coming along so well. Also, Tony talked with Derek from Southfield, who is producing a new range of goodies for the THH Gallery. They should be in to the gallery in July, so watch this space.
Saturday
Definitely Tony’s favourite day. There are so many friends and collectors who pop in many times just to visit us and catch up with us both and the gallery team. Friends and new faces alike can’t help but put a smile on Tony’s face. The day was, overall, a good one: plenty of painting done, which was great. As ever, Tony hopes to see you all whenever you are visiting the Gallery.
