Monday

Working on some new sketches and charcoals, which is a slight departure from my recent colourful work. Will see how that pans out, but I’m having fun nevertheless. I’m trying to produce a number of small, unique originals. The aim is to make my art accessible for those who have suffered as a result of the country’s recent recession.

Tuesday

A doodling day. Yvonne was at the hospital, I with her. Despite not expecting to work that day, I left an A5 sketch pad in pocket of my coat. I love that coat; it’s great for putting bits and pieces in.

Wednesday

A day out on location at north Berwick, looking for some creative inspiration. Lovely walk with Yvonne, too. Fantastic weather with some fantastic company.

Thursday

Yippee, escaped commitments in the Gallery for a quick couple of hours in the air. A lovely unexpected break accompanied by lovely unexpected weather. Fantastic landing at Charterhall to welcome David, a friend of mine who has joined the airfield after moving his plane up from Northumberland.

Friday

Captured in the Gallery. The day was spent tending front of house and working on smaller works in my spare time. Another lovely Borders day. Had a couple of buyers in for my work so, all in all, a satisfying day.

Saturday

Loads of great people in asking about Yvonne and how she is doing. An amazing number of people really care about her. This is definitely the low point of her treatment, but she will bounce back next week.

If you could beat cancer on determination alone, Yvonne would have it licked. The fight continues.

Had the MacPherson family—two parents, an interminable number of children—scampering around the Gallery. Loved the artwork hanging on the walls.
