Monday

Tony’s Monday was spent building up several thick layers of paint on his new painting, Why Me? The painting addresses a problem we all face at one time or another: the strange, lonely feeling of cosmic persecution, the creeping sensation that the universe is out to get us. Why Me? obviously has a very direct link to recent events in Tony’s life, but is also an exploration of the incomprehensible existential weirdness of life in general.

Tuesday

Involved in complex discussions on technology, Tony was as out of his element on Tuesday as he was in his element on Monday. Jac Rogers, a local web developer and general tech wizard, was in the Gallery to discuss the future of Tony’s website in the increasingly dominant mobile space. She is currently developing a prototype of the upcoming “mini-website”, as well as a monthly newsletter for Tony.

Wednesday

A day on the move for Tony, searching nearby towns for artistic inspiration. His countryside walks were characterised by the cold weather that often precedes snow, and indeed in the end sudden snowfall cut his meandering short. Later he stocked up on much-needed supplies and returned, accompanied by Yvonne, to Duns to escape from the snow.

Thursday

Tony started work on a few small sketches of his childhood memories: playing football, running around senselessly, building rickety fortresses in the woods. Later, a series of meetings with artists hoping to host their artwork in the Gallery. An afternoon of important work, certainly, but right now all Tony wants to do is paint.

Friday

Tony was in the Gallery juggling interaction with clients and other fantastic people all day. Many people chose Friday to check up on Yvonne and browse the new artwork hanging on the Gallery’s walls. Tony would like to thank everyone for their compassion in recent months.

Saturday

Only a light dusting of snow settled on Kelso on Saturday. Regardless, the much anticipated races were cancelled. As a result, the Gallery became the venue of choice for frustrated visitors. Despite running on a smaller staff, the Gallery team was more than capable of taking care of these people, many of whom were simply seeking refuge from the consistently daunting Scottish weather.
