Monday
On Monday Tony and Yvonne found themselves in Freeport, MA, travelling up from Boston. They have been looked after very well at their accommodation. That day, they had a meeting with a fantastic local lady, Jana, who owns an equally fantastic gallery in nearby Rockland. What a lovely meeting! Jana’s gallery may just become the American home of Tony’s artwork. Afterwards Tony and Yvonne travelled to Camden, a breathtaking place with a great harbour.
Tuesday
Went down to Bath a great spot to do some research and R&R. Tony reports that the town is so welcoming, and the people so friendly. Tony, always scouting for inspiration, took many photos that day.
Wednesday
Back to Bath for a boat trip to collect some shoreline images. Great trip: there used to be lots of lobster fishing here. There still is, to some extent. This reminded Tony of his grandad, Norman. They fished when the weather would let them. In winter they worked in the quarries, hand-working basalt stone. Hard working men indeed.
Thursday
On Thursday Tony and Yvonne headed south. Roadworks and poor signage meant the two didn’t stop at Portsmouth, as planned, and stopped instead at Salem. Tony reports that they have a great harbour, great food, and a thriving arts scene in Salem.
Friday
On Friday the temperature reached 90 to 100 degrees fahrenheit. A very warm and humid day. Tony and Yvonne took a trolley ride to find out about the history of Salem, then wander and take some pictures. The day ended with a boat trip.
Saturday
Some location works: lots of drawings and sketching for potential Maine show. Tony had some great ideas concerning lighthouses and transportation. Any paintings will be colourful; very uplifting, much like the great people Tony and Yvonne have met on their American journey. Tony says that he can’t wait to pick up the brushes.
