Monday

Tony battled Edinburgh traffic on Monday. Despite this, he and Yvonne had left the Western by 10:45. The announcement that Michael Moore, an old friend of Tony’s, had lost his position as Secretary of State for Scotland arrived later. It’s crazy, says Tony, but that’s the nature of politics.

Tuesday

After morning treatment, Tony had a meal with the lads, Daniel and Oran, university students in Edinburgh, at Nandos. Afterwards, a productive day in the studio.

Wednesday

A rainy day in Edinburgh. Only twenty yards from the waiting room which Tony and Yvonne occupied, the Princess Royal was opening a new unit in the Western General. After the royal engagement, it was back to the studio.

Thursday

Today I’ve been asked how do I feel about having to go to Edinburgh every day with Yvonne for her treatment s. when your best mate and lovely all round lady is ill. The rest of what I do is fitted in around her treatments. At times days are very ground Hogg day but I wouldn’t be any where else.

Tony is often asked how he feels about travelling to Edinburgh every day. He says that when your best friend is ill, you will do anything for her. His work fits around her treatments. At times, Tony feels his life is very Groundhog Day-esque, but he says he wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Friday

As an artist, Tony has painted many landscapes, seascapes, and portraits in an attempt to capture our individual journeys through life. His new painting, Nearly There, covers unbroken ground. It describes the journey of patients, their friends, and the staff involved in the often difficult process of treating illness. This painting is a record of all our joint efforts to reach the end of that dark tunnel.

Saturday

Tony was in the Gallery on Saturday, putting finishing touches to two new commissions. Great friends, as ever, came to visit. A great day; a great way to end the week. Have a great weekend, all.
