Monday
Yvonne continues to bounce back from both the chemo and being in hospital. She is regaining her appetite, which means that Tony’s waistline is expanding. When you consider what she has been through, it’s amazing to see her recover. She always has a smile on her face.
Tuesday
Tony was at Midlem airfield first thing Tuesday morning for a few hours of flying in the rare Scottish sunshine. Afterwards, he returned to the Art House Gallery to work on his commissions in the studio. It’s always nice, says Tony, to have the chance to work uninterrupted.
Wednesday
Wednesday was another great day in the Gallery. Hard worker Linda and Oran, who has officially left school, ran the Gallery while Tony caught up on his commission work in the studio.
Thursday
Thursday was another consistently great day. Tony spent much of the day working on his list of commissions. Thursday was also an unusually busy day, so Tony had the chance to interact with many visitors to the Gallery, in particular the amazing Kerr family. Victoria Kerr, who is deaf, is now an accomplished artist. She paints extremely realistic portraits of horses. When she last visited, two years ago, she was just striking out into the art world for the first time. It’s great to see that she’s made so much progress, both artistically and professionally. Well done, Victoria.
Friday
Another painting day. Yvonne was looking at her best, armed with a smile and usually a list of tasks for Tony. Later in the day, the two left the Gallery in the capable hands of Linda and Oran to visit a customer interested in two beautiful Philip Raskin paintings. She wanted to see how they would look in her home. This is the kind of old-fashioned service that the Art House Gallery provides local customers.
Saturday
Saturday, Tony’s favourite day, was full of ups and downs. The Gallery is always full of collectors, friends, and visitors from all corners of the globe. Guests never fail to put a smile on Tony’s face. As the week ended, however, Tony remembered that Yvonne’s surgery is not far away. There will be tough times ahead. At the same time, however, Tony is proud that despite all this hardship he and Yvonne still run one of the finest contemporary art galleries around.
